24-Page in Museum Feature in Casa BRUTUS, Behind the Scenes
I had the opportunity to document three massive cultural institutions at the forefront of the contemporary art world: the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which just celebrated its grand opening on September 22nd; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), featuring its newly completed wing from this past spring; and the New Museum in New York, which also debuted its new expansion this spring.
This extensive documentation is featured across 24 pages in the November issue of Casa BRUTUS, out now as a major art museum special feature.
Collaborating on this project was an immense privilege and a stimulating experience. I had the honor of forming a team with industry legends: Mika Yoshida, a veteran writer who has supported the magazine since its very inception, and David Imber, whose profound knowledge of architectural history and structural design brought invaluable depth to the coverage.
To add to the honor, my photograph featuring R2-D2 and C-3PO was selected for the cover of this issue, framed in a playful layout.

9/22にオープンしたばかりのルーカス美術館（Lucas Museum of Narrative Art）、今年の春に新館が加わったLACMA（ロサンゼルス・カウンティ美術館）、そして同じく春に新館がオープンしたニューヨークのニューミュージアム（New Museum）という、現代のアート界を牽引する3つの巨大な文化機関を撮影する機会をいただきました。それが、10/8に発売の『Casa BRUTUS』11月号の美術館大特集号にて、合計24ページにわたって掲載されています。
今回のプロジェクトで、カーサの創刊当時から雑誌を支えてこられたベテランライターの吉田実香さん、そして建築の歴史と構造に深い造詣を持つデイヴィッド・インバーさんという、レジェンドたちと共にチームを組めたことは、大きな刺激となりました。
さらに光栄なことに、今号の表紙（カバー）に、撮影したR2-D2とC-3POのカットがかわいらしく配置されています。

３月に撮影したニュー・ミュージアムも、今回の特集の中で、改めて掲載されています。
ちなみに、このニュー・ミュージアム外観の写真は、10月号の中の次号予告のページでも掲載されました。
６月号、オンライン、次号予告と、何度にもわたって写真が使用されているのを見るのは、やっぱり嬉しいものです。
建築と対峙したときに感じた圧倒的なボリュームへの感動、構造と素材が作り出す生でありながら贅沢な質感、空間の思想を知れば知るほど、心が動かされる感覚。そうした撮影時の熱量が、そのまま写真の粒子に宿って、手で触れられるようなリアルな感動となって、写真というメディアを超えて届けられていると良いなと思います。広角レンズの歪みからくる以上の迫力やパワーを、感じて楽しんでもらえたら。
学生の頃に建築を志していたものとして、そして現在、写真という表現を通して空間と建物に関わっているものとして、夢のようなプロジェクトでした。
